| Photographic images in the NWI... | ||
The NWI realises the importance of keeping a photographic record of Holy Wells. The careful use of measured photogprahs allows us to record in detail structures that are at risk from destruction and sites with a unique architectural style, historical or social role. Any photo we take or recieve does help us to determine the state of England's Holy Wells, and develop a record of how the condition of a site changes over time [see:Tissington monitoring program]. This role has become one of the primary concerns of the NWI field team. Photographs are though more than a dry historical record of the size and structure of a site. A photograph records what people are doing, traditions, interest and belief at the Wells. For us, evey photo we recieve taken by an interested individual at a Well tells us something useful. So why not donate a picture to the NWI archive. |
